Brendan Bash 2008

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Months and months ago we started planning a monumental gathering in San Diego to commemorate our friend Brendan’s return from Iraq.  We waited anxiously and it finally arrived.  Here are a few pictures, from our karaoke, fancy dinner, baseball game, frisbee-in-the-park weekend.

Just had to run out and snap a picture of this sunset.  Now is the season for these great sights.  Really breath-taking.

Remodel and the Reptile

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

So we are one step closer to our remodel.  The original architect on the remodel of our house came over yesterday to walk the house, make necessary adjustments (thank you Eliana for already doing this), and make the plan officially ours by putting my name on it.  On a separate note, on my way out of the house today a large (for being in my kitchen) reptile (alligator lizard or snake) slithered across the kitchen and under the stove.  I was unable to either catch it or see it well enough to identify it properly.  Ahh, warm spring-timey weather.  Lots of spiders and other creatures… I’ll keep you posted (with pictures!) if this scaley neighbor reappears.

Gardening

A couple of weeks ago we picked up some garden plants at the Copia Plant Sale.  A few tomatos, peppers, cucumbers, strawberries, and an artichoke plant.  We finally got them in the ground today and hopefully in a few weeks we’ll start to get some yummy fresh veggies!
